In January we got to meet volleyball legend Karch Kiraly at our daughters' volleyball club. Of course we brought the camera and long story short, USA Volleyball ended up wanting some of our images for publication.

We got a sneak peek at the magazine today and not only does it feature one of our images, but it was used for Karch Kiraly's new column in the magazine, 'Karch Kiraly's Volleyblog':



PS - no, that is not our photo of Misty May-Treanor, it's just the cover of the magazine. (and incidentally Misty, we'd make a waaay better portrait of you than that...give us a ring, ok?)

The Mythbusters! - Denver event photographer

Tuesday we had one of our most exciting photo shoots so far this year......a corporate dinner which featured the Mythbusters Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage! Mile High Station was the venue for the event and as usual they provided the perfect setting for the evening.






Our favorite caterers Biscuit and Berries went all out as usual with four fantastic themed food stations as well as delicious hors d'oeuvres served throughout the room.
















Stuart from Starkey Productions and Pro Entertainment brought out his team and provided great accent lighting for the event (hey, brides....the photographs above show some great examples of the kind of uplighting we often recommend to make your reception look spectacular!) They also featured some unique warm-up entertainment with electric violinist, Maestro Hughes, and DJ Ripm.










The highlight of the evening came when Mythbusters Adam and Jamie took the stage and spent nearly two hours sharing stories from their myth-busting adventures, both on and off the screen, and answering questions from the audience. They even demonstrated the interleaved phonebook pages myth and showed the top-secret....ummmm...flatulence ignition video ;-)












We had a great time and topped off the night by giving Jamie and Adam the thrill of having their picture taken with us....HA!

Wedding in West Palm Beach, Florida - Colorado Springs based destination wedding photographer

Each year we get to travel to Atlanta to photograph performances for our friends Bob & Kathy at Peachtree City School of Dance and the Peachtree City Civic Ballet. They're good friends and it's always a pleasure to work with them. When we heard their daughter was getting married, and they'd given us the honor of photographing the wedding, we couldn't wait to photograph it for them (nevermind that the the wedding was going to be in the West Palm Beach area, just a few miles up the road from our old stomping grounds of Ft Lauderdale).

Melissa and Trevor's wedding finally arrived this weekend, and it was just as lovely as we had imagined it would be. We started out at the Boca Raton Bridge Hotel with a fantastic view overlooking the ocean and the Boca Raton inlet.





The ladies were lovely in pretty pink spring dresses and Melissa wore a gorgeous single strap gown.











Meanwhile Trevor and the boys held down the church while we left the ladies to their final preparations. That gave the guys some face time with our cameras. It's a lot easier to ensure coverage of both the men and the ladies with two photographers but this time I was able to do it myself, because Melissa planned a nice relaxed schedule for preparation and portraits before the wedding.



Trevor is a big New York Mets fan so Melissa bought him cufflinks made from recycled seats of Shea Stadium, original home field for the Mets...what a great gift!





We finished the evening at the elegant Delray Beach Club with portraits on the deck overlooking the ocean.

CSCS elementary group portrait

In February we conspired with the staff and students at CSCS Elementary to make a special group portrait to surprise their principal, Doug Bray, with a beautiful framed portrait recognizing his 25 year anniversary. We had to keep it secret until Mr. Bray received his photograph but since the unveiling we've received so many inquiries from school families about obtaining a copy of the photograph that we decided to make them available as a fund raiser for the school.

We can't post the actual photograph here since all the students' faces are in it but you can see a copy at the Elementary school office or contact us directly at 719 219 9791 to purchase a copy. We're making 5"x7" prints for $10 and 8"x10" prints (the larger size is definitely more appropriate for this group photograph) for $15.


Yes the photograph is blurry on purpose so were not posting students' photographs on the web without parental permission.

Today we celebrate Jesus paying the price on the cross for each and every one of us to give us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. This photograph is from the 'Faure Requiem' performed at our church (Family of Christ Lutheran on Baptist Road) last year. We completed the service in darkness with nothing but dim lights behind the cross and the acolyte bringing the Christ candle down the aisle (you can just see him in the bottom right of the photograph).

surviving the storm - Colorado Springs event and corporate photographer

Yesterday DeAnna and Tim got to attend a motivational presentation by Jim Davidson from Speaking of Adventure about his experiences climbing Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world.

Jim is a great speaker and provided a lot of really interesting tidbits about the adventure of climbing a mountain nearly 27,000 feet tall, but the metaphors between climbing and working through difficulties in business and in life - adaptation, weathering the storms, etc. were great.





The presentation was put on as part of our monthly HSMAI luncheon, so of course we got a top-notch lunch from our friends Susie, Sarah and Shannon at the DoubleTree hotel:









We also unveiled our new business spotlight presentation where we photograph a new member or local business and introduce them to the organization.
