March 6 wedding at Wilson Creek Winery - Temecula CA destination wedding photographer
Wow, 2011 has been our year for destination weddings! Back from Peru, we headed to Temecula, CA - the 'other' wine country of California for Desiree and Matt's fabulous wedding at the beautiful Wilson Creek Winery.
Our travel started out with a little hiccup - we always confirm flights beforehand to ensure a smooth trip but this time United cancelled our flight as we were driving to the airport! Fortunately we had allowed ourselves enough time to find another flight or even drive if needed, so we hopped on the next available flight which detoured us to San Diego...still only a short drive from our destination. DeAnna and I had spent a fun weekend in San Diego 10 years ago almost to the day so it was a nice unexpected 'date' for lunch before we hopped in our rental car for Temecula.
The wine country of Temecula is gorgeous...it reminds me of photographs of the Italian countryside - rolling hills, immaculate vineyards and clay tile roofs. There is, of course, a California touch with palm trees and even some snow-capped mountains way off in the distance.
As the afternoon breeze picked up we let Desiree's dress float in it with vineyards and mountains as a backdrop.
Funky orange shoes complimented the bridesmaid dresses. We had a bride on a desperate search for orange shoes like this last summer...where were they then?!
The ring bearer stole the show...here he is playing the part of the ladies' man.
Matt's nerves turned into excitement as he had to wait for the ceremony for his first look at Desiree.
The flowers from Sweet Pea Floral Creations included these dark purple calla lillies, called black - what a gorgeous arrangement they made for the bridesmaids' and bride's bouquets.
Desiree looked stunning and I love how the sun highlights her red hair.
Matt's ring was so large it wouldn't come close to sitting on a wine cork for a pretty still life portrait...no worry, I like this one.
After the ceremony, clouds rolled in and blackened the sky but the dark blue made a great background here!
Cute wine glasses filled with colored candies helped everyone find their seats.
Tasty, soft peanut butter and chocolate-chip cookies from Annie the Baker along with ice cream and toppings replaced cake as dessert...yum!
A classy 1961 Bentley made the perfect getaway car as they dashed off through the light drizzling rain watering the vineyards.
